Ike's Birthday

Here are some photos that were taken of Isaac's fourth birthday:
A couple of my friends have the tradition of filling their child's room with balloons the night before their birthday while they are sleeping. We adopted the tradition with Isaac's b-day and it was a hit...with everyone but Davis. Turns out my baby (who loves balls) is afraid of balloons.

Eating breakfast on the special birthday plate.
Ike received many phone calls from family members and loved all the attention. Thank you!
Isaac had his good friend, Harrison, over for a play date in the morning. We dipped marshmallows in chocolate and covered them with sprinkles.
Harrison was a natural at marshmallow-dipping.
He told me at least two dozen times, "I'm four years old today!"

Maddie wasn't about to let any of the sprinkles go to waste.
Opening presents when Dad got home.
After we went out for pizza per the birthday boy's request, our friends the Parkinson's came over for cake and ice cream. They saved the night because a day before his birthday (after we had already decided to keep things low-key and not have any friends over), Ike told me that he couldn't wait for it to be his birthday because "that's when everyone comes to visit you!" Oops. Guess living in Utah and celebrating all of his cousins' birthdays sort of gave him that idea. Luckily Nick came to the rescue and brought all three kids over (by himself!) at a moments notice. Ike loved his "party."
Maddie enjoyed her Lightning McQueen cupcake. Thank you Sam's Club.
We pumped Alec and Lyssa full of sugar and then sent them home so Nick could put them to bed all by himself while Chrissy was at work. Because we're thoughtful friends like that.
I'm so glad Isaac has good friends like Alec here in Iowa. It makes living far from cousins more bearable.
The balloon fight was probably the highlight of the party. Nick fought all the kids off while simultaneously protecting baby Cordelia. The easy-going girl didn't even bat an eyelash.

Thanks to everyone for making Ike's day so special! He's already talking about how he's going to celebrate turning 5!

Okay, So I know this post is all about Ike and it looks like he had an amazing birthday... but I must say my favorite picture is the one of Maddie downing the bowl of sprinkles! Haha! Can you say sugar coma?? ;) So. Stinkin. Adorable.

Happy Birthday, Ike! The kids had soooo much fun celebrating with you. I just wish I could have been there too! What fun. Isn't it great being 4?
