This Might Have Been the Start of Something Big.

Ryan pretending to be a doctor. How priceless is this photo, considering what he has accomplished over the past four years?

Can you believe this was taken almost 30 years ago? Ryan graduates this Saturday with his doctorate and I am so proud of him. I bet his mom never imagined when she took this picture so long ago that one day her little angel boy (that's what she still calls him...to this day) would accomplish such a great undertaking. I mean really, what kid hasn't played with a toy stethoscope a time or two?

Ryan and Isaac just after beginning medical school (at the white coat ceremony) almost 4 years ago.

Doing some pro bono work on his dad back when he didn't really know what he was doing. He knows now.

I can't wait to see what is in store for our family on this next adventure that we are about to embark upon! It really is such an exciting time.

How I Want to Live My Life

I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with my children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.
