I was talking with Maddie the other night about her upcoming birthday, trying to convince her why it would be a good idea to have a small party with just a few close friends (since, you know, we are in the middle of preparing for a cross country move and all). This of course is a hard concept for an almost-six-year-old to understand.
"Okay, Maddie," I said, "How about you choose your six very closest friends since you will be turning six years old?"
She closed her eyes and sighed (but just a little) and then replied, "It's just that I have like a hundred names swimming around in my head right now."
