Five

This little man is five months old this week. He is squishy and drooly and squawks all the time now that he has discovered his voice.
And his little tongue is constantly hanging out of his mouth, just like this. I think he likes to feel his first tooth coming in.

Four

Davis has a thing for Llama Llama books so when one that we placed on hold became available at our local library, he couldn't even wait to get to the car before taking a look.
Today, approximately 35 seconds after lunch was over, Davis announced that he was hungry. "Dave, you just ate!" "Well," he whispered "I'm not hungwee for fooooood...I'm hungwee for caaaaandy."

Three

Date Night Selfie.
Ryan and I haven't seen much of each other lately so it was really nice to go out last night and have him all to myself. We couldn't decide where to eat so we went to three different places and got take-out at them all. Nothing like a little BBQ, a couple of pupusas, and some Chinese to fill you up.
Multiple plastic forks were needed.
Is this as close as Mormons would get to a bar hop?

Two

The boys with their new haircuts.
Every couple of months or so, when our boys start to have unruly bedhead, we break out the hair clippers and give them a trim. This experience is pleasant for no one, but as Isaac said this afternoon (on the verge of tears), "It's just one of those things in life that has to be done, even though it's no fun at all."

As I was cutting Davis' hair this afternoon while he was sitting on a kitchen chair (in nothing but his undies and crouched down in a borderline fetal position) he kept yelling things at me like, "Don't cut my brains out!" and "I fink you just cut my neck off!" and "Pweeease don't cut my ears off, mom!" I could barely hold back the laughter.

One

Here goes my attempt to blog every day during the month of November...
I love this face! Maddie and I by no means have a drama-free mother/daughter relationship, but she brings so much joy to my life. She is thoughtful and kind. Just today I let both her and Isaac choose a piece of their Halloween candy for their lunch boxes. When she got off the bus this afternoon she told me she had a surprise for me and pulled out a squished up Swedish fish from her backpack pocket that she had saved for me because she knows they are a favorite of mine. While it was reminiscent of the final scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, it was really sweet.
